Thursday Updates

Just quick post today. Nothing major happened this week, but there was still progress at the house. More of the wiring was completed, the plumbers pressure tested the supply lines, and the huge hole on the side of the house for the sewer connection was filled in. Additionally, the garage was cleaned out some in preparation for next week's roofing. They need to beef up the garage roof from inside and to do so, needed some space cleared out for a couple of temporary posts. We pulled out all the old fixtures we weren't using and they are being donated to Restore, which is the main revenue generator for Habitat for Humanity. They resell donated building supplies and use the income to help fund affordable housing projects.

The kitchen plan you see here is the real deal, with one change: we are not using the gloss gray on the drawers. Everything will either be Cherry veneer or glass & aluminum. We decided to put the kibosh on the high gloss look. We really liked it, but were worried it might be too much maintenance. Hopefully, the kitchen & bath cabinets will get ordered next week.

We also met with a tile designer and are moving forward on the plans for hard surfaces in the house. I still think we are on track to get back in the house in June. I can hardly wait...!
