Gettin' Organized

This was a project I did on Sunday. We had this spot at the end of the workbench that was perfect for some shelves or a small shelving unit, but couldn't find anything to buy that fit just right. So, I decided to make one. I actually used every power tool we own: drill, jig saw, skill saw, and sander, in the construction process. It turned out pretty well, and best of all, fits perfectly!

The spot is designated as pantry overflow for the kitchen, and shortly after this photo was taken, I started putting stuff on the shelves. It's going to come in handy, for sure.

Things are looking green...

Well, the new sod went in on Saturday. It looks good, and we've been extra careful about watering it. We've had some rain the past two days to help things out. So far, so good, but I can just tell from the look on Decker's face that he's contemplating where to make the first brown spot....

Happy Valentine's Day

I found this image in a collection of Valentines from the 1950's. Don't you love it? Hope everybody has a lovely day. Make sure to eat as much chocolate as possible.

We have new sod going in on Saturday. Yeah!

Looking good

We got the replacement glass for the kitchen cabinets, and spent a little time Saturday & Sunday installing it. The first photo shows one door with the glass & the other three with the old plastic, so you can see the difference between the two. The 2nd picture shows what they look like with all the plastic replaced. I think it looks great - much more expensive looking, and you can really see the aluminum in the frames now. One of the pieces that goes above the stove wasn't cut to the correct size, but otherwise, all the doors are done. We just have to get a replacement for the incorrect piece. I've also got to figure out what to do with my cookbooks. Where they are stashed right now isn't the most attractive or convenient place.

Now, we need to start thinking about the lawn. It has to be pulled out & re-sodded; it's just a mess!

Vote!

If you live in California, you know that the primary elections are today. However you vote, make sure that you *do* vote! This is the Vet's Hall in Cayucos, where we vote. It's right at the end of the pier, so while you are waiting, you can watch the sunrise & waves. Quite nice, I must say :)

This past weekend, I took a trip to Sacramento to visit family & friends. As always, it was great to see everybody, and as always, I needed three more days to get all the visiting in that I wanted! I drove home via a slightly different routhe: I5 to the 152, to the 156, to the 101. I liked it. The Pacheco pass is beautiful right now and I don't think it took any longer than driving on I5. My GPS said it was actually shorter, which is why it directed me that way. It was very nice to get off of I5 before I got bored of it. I always prefer the 101 through the Salinas Valley; it's so much more picturesque!
